Looking at Getting a Soldering Iron Station

Post by ZebH » Wed Aug 14, 2019 1:41 pm

Hi all,

I am looking at getting a Soldering Iron Station.

It needs to have a fairly small tip, have a decent range of temperature control and be good quality because it will be used regularly!

What would your recommended?

Thanks!

Hey Zeb, Check out the t-12 style soldering stations :)
these are awesome, I run them at my office and several schools have full classrooms of them.

He said I can use it, so I don't think I will buy one of my own quite yet!

How does this one compare with the one you mentioned above?

Thanks very much!

Thanks.
I put it high now because it does not transmit heat well now. But it might be a problem I have little patience for worming it up....
What is soldering iron cleaner? I have a wet sponge. Is it some chemical?
With cupper tip I used a file and recovering it with solder. Does not help with this type of tip.

Worst thing you can do is file the soldering iron tip! You might need to buy another tip.
Soldering iron refresher is a flux and solder mixture which when you put the iron into it burns and cleans all the nasty goop off it and recoats it with good solder :)
A wet sponge is always the best thing to use to maintain cleanliness.
